It is my habit to drive the backroads, where traffic is light or none at all, camera and daughter in tow. We are on the hunt for the right scene, light, or object, for capture in the lens of my camera.
We got a late start Monday afternoon. The sun was lowering and the light was right for some good pics.
I have driven past this small cemetery several times and even stopped once before, as this is a favorite route to drive for picture taking. We pulled in to the grass-grown gravel parking spot. I grabbed my camera and walked into the shaded cemetery. The afternoon light dappled through the trees and shone on the few headstones standing there. Sandstone rocks marked several graves.
Limbs gathered from this winter's ice storm were piled high behind the open area, but the shape of one stone caught my eye. Beside it was a spray of silk tulips placed there this spring, or several springs ago. A flash of color in an otherwise drab scene. The pics I took in this lonesome place are my current favorites.
